How to play Word Search

Open Word Search, check the instructions and begin a round. Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. Look at what changes after your first action. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Each board contains eight target words from the included English word list.

Review a difficult moment

When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round. Keep the objective visible.

Your goal

Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Follow this game’s rules rather than another version’s.

Step by step

  1. Select the first and last letter of a straight word.
  2. Words can run horizontally, vertically or diagonally, in either direction.
  3. Find all eight targets.
  4. New puzzle shuffles again.

Controls

Tap or click endpoints. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.

A useful example

Selecting the endpoints in reverse order also finds the same word. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Keep the controls nearby.

Watch out for this

Words cannot turn corners. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
